Hydrochloric acid aqueous solution

Hydrochloric acid is used:

• in the food industry
• in the pharmaceutical industry
• for water treatment (pH adjustment)
• for municipal sewage treatment
• for industrial cleaning and washing

• in the power industry for the regeneration of ion exchangers
• in the production of industrial chemicals, e.g. agrochemicals or fertilizers
• in the production of household chemicals
• for extraction of ores in the mining industry
• in the production of biofuels, oils and lubricants
• in galvanizing and galvanizing processes
• in tanning
• in the textile industry
• in the construction industry as an additive to concrete and mortar, for insulation of wires and cables, for adhesives and building binders

Hydrochloric acid is an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride, a gas with a sharp, suffocating smell, highly soluble in water. Highly concentrated, left in contact with oxygen, it forms dense, white, smoking fumes. The maximum acid concentration that can be achieved is 37%. When concentrated, it is a strong poison, causing immediate irritation of the mucous membranes. It has caustic properties, perfectly destroys sugar, fabrics or wood, causes burns.

P234 Keep only in original container.
P260 Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray.
P304 + P340 IF INHALED: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
P303 + P361 + P353 IF ON SKIN (or hair): Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower.
P305 + P351+ P338 IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
P309+P311 IF exposed or if you feel unwell: Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.
P501 Dispose of contents and container in accordance with local, regional, national and international regulations.
